My name is Lucero Mendoza, and I was born and raised in Avenal, California. I am a first-generation graduate who obtained her undergraduate degree in Social Work and minor in Spanish from the University of Fresno. I am pursuing my master’s degree in Student Affairs and College Counseling, in hopes of assisting underrepresented college students in the Central Valley region. Growing up in a small town, I have been surrounded by farmworkers my whole life. I am a proud daughter of a hardworking man who has dedicated his life to working in the fields of the Central Valley. Hearing the injustice that many farmworkers experience has motivated me to become part of the California Farmworker Foundation. As an outreach specialist, I hope to be able to empower and provide farmworkers with the proper service they all deserve.
